The Art of Science is devoted to bringing to light the collaboration and integration of the art and science worlds to create amazing products or breakthroughs.

This blog was created to showcase the combination of art and science, either in science’s application to artistic endeavours, or in how art has helped move science forward. Art and Science have historically been seen as two sides of the same coin, and yet in the 20th and 21st centuries we seem to have moved away from that view, and instead have created two very isolated, abstract fields. The (perhaps lofty) goal of this blog is to exemplify that these two fields are not polar opposites and in fact can benefit from each other. People in both the ”science” and “art” camps tend to believe they are working towards different goals, or that the other camp has it all wrong. But in fact both camps only have it half right.

I am a science writer, researcher, and blogger, with a deep passion for art and design. I have explored this combination of art and science through writing, film, and other media. I also received a Masters in Anthropology that focused on both the art and science behind the sport of parkour.

This blog took a break during 2012, but is now back up and running. You can also follow me on mentalflowers.wordpress.com.

  2. i love your blog; and would urge you to attend the Light in Winter Festival in Ithaca, NY next January. We are the first festival to celebrate the synergy of art and science, and served as the inspiration for the new World Science Festival in NY. Do check us out!

  7. Wow, it took me a while, but i found you. I’ve been searching, ever since i created my blog, for a blog that focussed on the nexus of art and science as I do! Finnally glad to meet a blogger with similar intentions!

    I’ve only just started blogging and so my posts are a bit rusty, but i can’t wait for what I should be able to bring in the near future as I have a close relationship with the Royal Institute of Australia (the sister chapter of the Royal Institute of Great Britian) since becoming a volunteer there. Some of my posts already feature content from there and will do so greatly in the future!

    Next week i hope to have some science inspired hai-ku! 😀 So I’d love if you would become a regular reader and as i’m sure i will be of yours!
